Hooker Boots

So I really like the idea of thigh-high boots, but, at the same time, am unsure how you pull them off without looking like a hooker ala Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. I suspect that they only way to wear them is over leggings or skinny jeans. Neither of which I wear because I feel like they only look good on girls who are a size 2. Although…I’ve been tempted to get some leggings lately, but I would always wear them with a dress (as if that somehow makes it ok).

I think in the pics below that Hayden Panettiere and Cameron Diaz really pull them off, but is it just because they’re hot celebs?! Or can a nobody pull them off? If so, how?

And, it has to be said, they look incredibly difficult to get on and off so would I end up wearing them constantly? To bed? In the shower? Not to mention, what if they’re so tight they cut off circulation to my legs? So, what are your thoughts on thigh-highs?

I really don't know why the formatting is all messed up and I'm too stoopid to fix it.

personally i'm not a fan. i think they only look good on these celebs because they look good in most things so we give them that leeway.
i feel that if you need something to cover your knees you need to wear tights. don't even get me started on the whole boots OVER jeans thing.

I like them, but as I can barely find knee-high boots to wear (I was a dancer most of my life and my calves are just...MUSCULAR), I doubt I could find thigh-high ones. So I don't even bother to try.

I did find some super cute over-the-knee ones by Blowfish, but I couldn't even get my foot in them. My arches are really high, so...I have some trouble with boots sometimes.

Basically, I'm a boot maker's nightmare.

They definitely look hot on some people, but I don't think they'd be for me. I'm short as it is and I have a feeling they'd just make me look shorter... Though Hayden is short, so I could be very wrong. I really know nothing. Ignore this comment.

I don't think I could pull them off (pardon the pun).
But I think those celebs get it right because they are covered up nicely on their top halves which avoids the slutty look.

If I could pull them off, I'd look like a moron prancing around in them around here. I feel weird enough with my mid-calf flat suede boots and skinny jeans.

Most people wear their pajamas out of the house around here.

You see what I'm saying.

I absolutely cannot wear thigh-highs because my calf and thighs are fatter so I still with traditional boots. And you should come over to the leggings side. I wear them with long shirts or regular tops around the house. Heaven

I would feel pretty stumpy, but I think some people can pull it off.

I'm not much of a heel person as it is, so that might be part of it.

Notsojenny - Celebs do get a lot of leeway. Why is it ok that Rihanna has been dressing like a streetwalker lately?

Shineoutloud - I have really high arches too!!! I always have to order boots a size or two larger than normal.

Amindinmotown - Damnit. I'm short too. I guess they would make my legs look even stumpier.

Kez - Yes. That does seem to be the trick...

Kristen - Maybe you're inspiring them into getting out of their pjs! Either that or you intimidate the hell out of them with your cuteness.

Bayjb - I'm sure my thighs would be too big for them. So sad...I hate it when trends just don't work for my body.

Elizabeth - I think I'd look stumpy too. So sad.
