Back Injury

I’m back to blogging about running. I am inspired by other running bloggers plus I recently injured my back again and have been sidelined from exercising for several weeks now. I finally got desperate enough to go to a chiropractor (I’ve always been distrustful of them). The first thing he told me is that my left leg is shorter than my right resulting in this weird twisty thing that happens when I run, which is most likely the cause of all the back problems I have had.

Anyway, I am already feeling better after last night’s adjustment, but I still had to take some pain meds this morning. I am REALLY hoping that after tonight’s appointment I can run this weekend. I am going absolutely and completely nutso not exercising. AND to make it worse I have been feeling so crummy that I’ve been turning to food.

So today I am going back to very strict calorie counting and attempting to have a more positive attitude about the whole situation.

Yoga, my friend. It helped me more than the chiropractor ever did. I'm not judging, I'm just sharing my experience. The left side of my body is a whole size and two inches longer than the right side - has been my whole life. Yoga has fixed most of it. The broken left leg didn't help. If anything, I was hoping that it would shorten it to match. No such thing. Sigh.

while i agree that Yoga is worthwhile i am a big Pilates recommender. you get the same flexibility benefits as yoga but strenghtening the core is KEY to saving your back.
off my soap box now.

Oh no! sorry to hear about the injury, that's painful and awful. I hope it gets better. Yoga really would help, my back bothers me sometimes and I feel better after doing it. Stretches it out nicely.

Yay!! You're back! Boooo...your back! Sorry to hear you've injured it. Although I haven't worked out in ages, I found that yoga was key to keeping me in running shape. When I stopped doing yoga I got injured and had to stop running for good. Don't let this happen to you!
